What not to do

  • Do not drop the chain-rule structure when converting between dy/dt, dx/dt, and dy/dx.
  • Do not leave the calculator in the wrong angle mode.
  • Do not memorize formulas without tying them to a diagram.
  • Do not treat “sin inverse” as undoing every trig equation without checking domains.
  • Do not skip converting between polar and rectangular when the problem asks for both views.
