- Praise correct use of median/IQR vs mean/SD depending on skew/outliers.
- Ask whether a point is unusual and how they decided.
- Keep technology for calculation after they sketch or outline the display.
What not to do
- Do not describe a distribution with only the mean when the shape is skewed.
- Do not call every far point an outlier without a rule or clear reason.
- Do not mix up individuals and variables when reading a context.
- Do not skip units when reporting center or spread.
