  • Check that probabilities are between 0 and 1 and that a distribution sums to 1.

What not to do

  • Do not add probabilities of overlapping events without inclusion-exclusion or care.
  • Do not assume independence without justification.
  • Do not mix up P(A|B) with P(A and B).
  • Do not report an expected value without context units.
