Why it happens: Signs are treated as optional decoration instead of part of every term.

How to fix: Rewrite the step where the sign should change and say the rule aloud.

### 4. No reasonableness check

What it looks/sounds like: An answer that fails units, domain, or a quick estimate still gets submitted.

Why it happens: Checking feels optional after a long algebraic grind.

How to fix: Ask: Does this size/unit make sense? Plug back into the original when possible.

### 5. Wrong representation for the prompt

What it looks/sounds like: Graph when a sentence was required, or an expression when an equation was required.

Why it happens: A familiar finished form is produced even though the prompt asked for another form.

How to fix: Name the required form first (equation / inequality / graph / sentence), then work.

How to avoid them

1. Restate what 6.1 asks in one sentence before computing. 2. Name the method or representation you will use. 3. Define variables with units before writing symbols. 4. Check one easy special case, diagram estimate, or unit/domain check after a long solution. 5. Ask: does this answer match the required form and the prompt?
