What this standard means
Your child learns to directly compare two objects that share a measurable attribute and say which has more of / less of that attribute — and describe the difference.
Example: Stand two children back-to-back — who is taller / shorter?
Why it matters at home
- Line up two shoes heel-to-heel: which is longer?
- Hold two fruit: which feels heavier?
- Two towers of blocks: which is taller?

How you can help
- Align endpoints carefully for length compares
- For weight, use hands as a “balance” feel
- Use both words: taller/shorter, heavier/lighter
- Avoid mixing attributes mid-compare
- Keep to two objects at a time
- Ask them to describe the difference in words
